Frequently asked questions
Gifts of Freedom are meaningful gifts that help stop violence before it starts, secure freedom and justice, and empower survivors—all year long.
Each gift in the catalogue represents a tangible way your generosity can support IJM’s work, from helping fund rescue operations and aftercare to strengthening justice systems and equipping survivors to rebuild their lives.
You can choose a gift in honour of a friend, family member, or loved one and send them a card explaining the impact your gift can help make. It’s a thoughtful way to celebrate someone special while inviting them into the story of freedom and justice. You can also choose to make a gift directly without sending a card.
It’s simple:
The gifts featured in the catalogue illustrate the many practical ways your donation can support IJM’s work around the world. The suggested amounts are based on the estimated costs of activities and resources used in our programs.
For example, a gift of $40 could help provide an aftercare kit containing clothing, hygiene products, a comforting toy and art materials for a child after rescue. It could also help meet another urgent need, such as supporting a rescue operation, providing trauma-informed care, or helping a survivor return to school.
Donations are combined and directed to the areas of IJM’s work where they are needed most. This allows IJM to respond thoughtfully and effectively as needs arise while advancing our mission to protect people from violence and slavery, secure justice, and help survivors rebuild their lives.

IJM is unique in its holistic approach to combatting abuse. IJM follows individual cases all the way from investigation, to rescuing victims, to providing aftercare for survivors and to holding criminals accountable. This shows us exactly where the system does not work for people experiencing poverty and equips us to partner with local governments to fix those problems. We’re seeing communities transformed!
