FREEDOM IN NUMBERS
For nearly three decades, IJM has seen what’s possible when we work together for lasting change. In communities where we work, violence has dropped by up to 86%, contributing to some of the largest externally documented reductions in modern slavery in the world. Every gift plays a part in this progress, helping build safer communities and lasting protection for people vulnerable to violence.
People protected from ever experiencing violence.
People freed from slavery and violent abuse.
Survivor leaders across 79 Global Survivor Network chapters in 17 countries.
After being freed from bonded labour, Govind returned home ready to rebuild his life with support from the government rehabilitation funds and empowerment training from IJM.
Today, Govind leads a local chapter of IJM’s Global Survivor Network, advocates with government officials, and helps identify people who may be trapped in bonded labour.
For Govind, seeing others experience freedom is especially meaningful: “When they get freedom, we are very happy. They’re not in bondage anymore. They’re now free to live their own lives in dignity.”
Govind’s story shows what can happen when survivors have the support and opportunities they need: freedom can grow into leadership that helps protect others.
